Drill Down Excel Add-in

 
PC Instructions

This page will walk you through the steps required to install the PeopleSoft Drill Down option for Microsoft Excel.  These steps must be performed prior to using the nVision drill down functionality in Finance 8.4.  We recommend that if you have any questions or problems with these steps that you consult with your technical support personnel.  You can also call the Helpdesk in order to receive assistance.

 

Downloading the required add-in
1 Right-click on the following link DrillToPIA.xla
2 From the menu, select Save Target As

Note:  If you use Mozilla, Firefox or some other browser the name of the link may be Save Link As, Save Link Target As or something similar.
3 Change the file extension from ".xls" to ".xla"
4 From the "Save In" drop-down list at the top of the dialogue box, select your C: drive
5 Double-click the folder Program Files
6 Double-click the folder Microsoft Office
7 Double-click the folder Office
8 Double-click the folder Library

Important:  If you do not see a Library folder, click the Up a Level toolbar icon (should look like  or ) in the Save As dialogue prompt.  Look for other folders that start with the word "Office", open them and look for a Library folder.

 
  Click the Save button

Important: Be sure the file extension is .xla before saving.

 

Setting Macro security
9 Open Microsoft Excel
10 From the menu, click Tools
11 Select Macro, then click on Security...

Note: If you do not see the Macro item under the menu you may need to click the icon at the bottom of the menu to make it appear.

 
12 If High is currently select, click the radio button next to Medium.  If Medium or Low is already selected, you can skip to the next step.

Note:  The nVision Drill Down feature requires that you enable unsigned Macros.  Setting Macro security to Medium will require you to click "Enable Macros" each time you open nVision.  If you do not wish to have to click this prompt each time, you can set the security settings to Low.

 
13 Click the OK button

 

Installing the Add-In
14 From the menu, click Tools
15 Click on Add-Ins...
16 Click the checkbox next to DrillToPIA
17 Click the OK button

Verifying the installation
18 A new menu item, nVisionDrill, will appear between Data and Window in the menu.
